Plymouth Church has four choirs – the Chancel, Chapel, Carol and Cherub choirs.
The adult Chancel Choir strives to reach excellence in church music and fosters fellowship and community spirit. They practice every Thursday evening from 7:30-9 p.m.
If you’ve ever had the desire to sing in the Chancel Choir but couldn’t make the Thursday evening rehearsals, NOW IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY!! A special invitation is extended to all 8th graders, high school students and adults who enjoy singing. Between now and the end of July, the choir will only rehearse on Sunday mornings from 8:30-9:20, before the traditional worship celebration. During the summer months, we will be singing easier anthems. Presence every week is not a necessity – sing on the weeks that fit your personal schedule. Summer Choir Rehearsal is in Althaus Chapel at 8:30 Sunday mornings! See you there! Thursday evening rehearsals resume August 18, 2016.
The Children and Youth choirs (Chapel, Carol and Cherub) are part of the Sunday School program. They sing at the worship service at various times throughout the year. These choirs practice Sundays from 10:25 – 10:55 a.m.
Major Choral Works
The Chancel Choir performs two major choral works each year, one during the Advent season and another in late spring. Members and friends of the congregation who are not regular members of the choir are invited to attend rehearsals and join the choir for the presentations of these beautiful and moving pieces of music. These works are typically accompanied by orchestra or other instrumental ensembles.
Missa Brevis in F by W.A. Mozart was presented by the Chancel Choir on May 1, 2016.
