Sunday Classes

In-Depth Bible Study, 8:15 a.m., Room 201N

The In-Depth Bible Study expects to continue studying the book of John for most of the coming year, including detailed comparisons with the three other gospels. Anyone with an interest in Christian scriptures is welcome, whether on a regular or occasional basis. Scripture is read in class, discussions are wide-ranging and involve both personal reflection and outside reading.  What distinguishes this group is its no-holds-barred approach.  A goal is to help individuals develop a firm understanding of Scriptures that will hold up in the face of personal doubts, literalist and fundamentalist assertions, and challenges from science and objective biblical research. John Burch heads up the group.

Reunion Libertad, 9:30-10:30 a.m., Heritage Room

Plymouth is a progressive community where social justice and spirituality are both key elements of faith. As a part of Hispanic Ministries at Plymouth, Reunión Libertad promotes the respect and conservation of Hispanic culture while seeking integration and participation in the community at large. The Reunión Libertad Bible study provides a space for Spanish speakers to feel safe to use their language freely as they cultivate a deeper knowing of themselves, others, and God. We seek to find new ways to say, “You are loved, you are needed, and you are welcome here at Plymouth en español!”

Social Justice, 9:45-10:30 a.m., Room 202N

Class will not be meeting this summer – 2016. Class should “start up” again on August 21, 2016.

Through guest speakers and other presentations, this class explores the many sides of current social justice issues. The goal is to live out our Plymouth Covenant, to “seek to know the will of God” in order that as a church we may “walk in God’s ways.” Annas and Fernando Lefort are the class leaders.

Adult Bible Study, 9:45 a.m., Room 201N

Class will not be meeting this summer – 2016. Class should “start up” again on August 21, 2016.

Are the sacred texts of our faith relevant in your day to day life?  What do really mean?  Are they metaphors, wisdom sayings and/or practical advice? Do they resonate and fit into our current busy lives?  How do you pronounce the long, strange names? To answer these questions and more, join the 9:45 AM Bible Study on Sundays in room 201N.

Please join us as we read, discuss and share our thoughts on the Bible passages in an informal, inspiring and relaxed atmosphere.  No signup required, you don’t need to attend every session (come and go as you wish) and bring your favorite version of the Bible (or use the ones available at church).  Please contact Tom Neal at 785-766-7092 or if any questions.

Weekday Classes

Plymouth Language Program

facebook: Plymouth Language Program

English as a Second Language classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. We offer opportunities for volunteers to serve as conversation partners, mentors, childcare providers, marketing assistants, and more. Volunteering for this important Plymouth mission provides an opportunity for English speakers and English language learners to learn from each other, helping to replace cross-cultural, class, and linguistic barriers with understanding and respect through shared dialogue and experiences. If you have an interest in volunteering, you will need to attend a volunteer orientation.

The Plymouth Language Program also offers Spanish classes. Come learn, practice or improve your Spanish on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. We offer three levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

Plymouth also hosts a fiesta to celebrate the end of each semester. Stop by to enjoy food, music, and friendship, with our famous hand-made enchiladas and piñatas for the kids! Contact us for dates and details.
