Art Classes & Art Show
Art classes in a variety of mediums such as ceramics, watercolor, acrylics, glass fusion, stained glass, photography, and fiber are offered every other year. As a culmination of these classes, the “God in Me and God in You Art Show” is held in late October or early November on even numbered years. All members and attendees of Plymouth are encouraged to submit art work for display in the non-juried show.
Culinary Arts Classes
Culinary classes are offered periodically throughout the year for participants to gain or enhance cooking skills. Class subjects have included: the basics of cooking, making more with less, make-ahead meals, food preservation/canning, bread, candy, pie and pizza making, international foods, and Thai. The classes are very social and generally include eating or sampling the finished product.
The Dramatic Arts ministry debuted with an Italian Night dinner theater featuring radio dramas. Since then, they have provided entertaining social opportunities through food and the dramatic arts. The Plymouth Players are always exploring various ways to be involved in the life of Plymouth Church. No previous acting skills or experience are necessary. Both sacred and secular productions will be presented. As this ministry develops we look forward to including shorter non-memorized dramatizations and larger works and musicals.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
For centuries shawls have been symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving God. Each shawl begins with a prayer and blessings for the recipient. These intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl and upon completion, a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way. Shawls are presented to members during times of great joy, loss, for comfort and sharing God’s peace. The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets at 7 p.m. on the 1st Wednesday of each month in the Heritage Room. There are members eager to teach you how to knit or crochet.
