Plymouth Congregational Church is a United Church of Christ, an Open and Affirming Congregation.

We are people diverse in background, outlook and experiences, but what we share is our common call by God in Christ to be The Church. The Church, as always, is the people gathered for mission and worship, bound together in Love of the Holy Spirit, called to a common path of seeking the will of God known or to be made known.

Plymouth’s Pastor Ray A. Eusden (1932) wrote a strong statement about the purpose of Plymouth Church: “What is the dominating motive of Plymouth? Our dominant motive is not speculative but practical. The basis of our fellowship is not theology but love and service. We have people in our ranks who represent many shades of theological opinion. We encourage this independence of thinking. Whatever may be our theological opinions we are bound together in making the world more Christ-like. Conservatives and liberals, fundamentalists and modernists are all welcome in our membership, providing they are willing to give other people the right to think as they choose and providing they are willing to work with the total membership of the church in the practical purpose of extending the Kingdom of Jesus on earth.”

The Open and Affirming Declaration

We declare Plymouth Congregational Church to be an Open and Affirming Church, welcoming all persons, regardless of gender, race, physical or mental ability, economic status, age or sexual orientation. We affirm that persons who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered share with all others the worth that comes from being unique individuals created by God. Therefore, this congregation joyfully and unequivocally welcomes all to share in the life and leadership, ministry, fellowship, worship, sacraments, responsibilities, and blessings of participation in our community of faith.

No matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!
