For two consecutive summers, Plymouth’s youth have traveled to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation in La Plant, South Dakota to work with the Simply Smiles Organization. This summer our youth will return to South Dakota as we look to strengthen our relationship with the Lakota community in La Plant.
Plymouth is proud to welcome Bryan Nurnberger, founder and president of Simply Smiles, Inc. In 2013, he was given the Lakota name “Cante Waste Wicasa”, which means “Kind Hearted Man.” He will discuss the important work of his organization, a unique non-profit agency, which is dedicated to providing bright futures for impoverished children, their families, and their communities.
The evening will also include music by folk/pop singer, songwriter and humanitarian Kristen Graves. Mentioned by both Rolling Stone and the New York Times, and given her own day across the state of Connecticut by Governor Malloy for her musicianship and activism, she has shared stages with Pete Seeger, Peter Yarrow, Rusted Rood, Holly Near, Dar Williams, Harry Belafonte and many more.Click here to RSVP
